No need to look any further for restaurant-quality Dim Sum than your own kitchen! A dim sum meal is considered a shared dining and social experience that can last for hours. Dim Sum meals often include a variety of dumplings, and two options are open-faced drum dumplings (Shu Mai) and wrapped dumplings (wontons). Join Chef Tess as she guides you step-by-step through creating these delightful dumplings with two different meat and veggie fillings and purchased wrappers. Learn to shape, fill, and cook these tender bites in your own home for a memorable dim sum get-together. She will also share tips for serving, freezing, and reheating.
Equipment: A bamboo steamer is a “nice-to-have,” but optional.
Several days before class, you will receive an email with an ingredient and supply list, prep packet, and Zoom video conferencing link. A few days after the class, you will receive an additional email with the recipes used during the class.
The registration fee covers immediate family members living in the same household only. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.
Tess Georgakopoulos has been cooking since she was roughly six years old -- well over forty years. Born into a Greek family, the art of cooking traditional meals using one's senses rather than recipes and measurements was passed on from one generation to the next. Her father was a trained chef who brought the magic of food to life in another form as they cooked elaborate family meals together. Food prepared from the heart, with one's own hands and creativity, was, and continues to be, an expression of love in her home. As a skilled home-cook and baker, Tess enjoys creating original recipes for her family and friends. She has recently started writing her first cookbook, and has a food blog in the works.
