  • Acrylic Pouring: Beach Waves | age 16+

    Spend an entertaining evening learning how to create fun and easy fluid art. Instead of paint brushes, we will use gravity to move the paint and different techniques to create two ocean-inspired pours. It's a lot of fun (and somewhat addicting!) and a great way to spark your creative energy. You will create two 8x8-inch canvases and transport them home in a provided tray. Your final piece will change during transportation and until it is completely dry. A parent is required to accompany students ages 16 and 17. If both parent and child wish to participate, please register separately.
  • Beginner Embroidery

    Have you been interested in trying embroidery, but aren't sure where to start or what supplies to get? Start right here with your own set of embroidery tools, including a hoop, aida cloth, thread, embroidery needle, and pattern. Morgan, our embroiderer extraordinaire, will walk you through setting up your embroidery hoop, how to begin the stitching, and filling in the pattern. You will have independent work time as she provides one-on-one help throughout the classroom. If you don't finish the project in class, you'll get instructions on how to finish the project at home. Registration fee includes the tools listed, which are yours to keep.

  • Brims & Brews

    Gypsy Creek Artisan Boutique is bringing their famous Hat Bar to Otsego! Their artist will guide you in decorating, burning, and accessorizing a trendy felt hat. Experience this hot new creative trend with your friends while enjoying delicious cocktails and bites. All the tools will be provided to decorate your customized fashion accessory! Registration fee includes the hat, two ribbon bands, charm, feather, and one design burning. Additional hat items will be available for purchase during class. Food and beverages may be purchased from Pour Wine Bar and Bistro to enjoy while you craft.
  • Ceramics: Clay Exploration

    Experience the tactile art of working with clay! Designed for every level of artist, you'll start with a hand building project to learn some basic techniques, then progress to throwing on a pottery wheel. Learn to center projects, pull cylinders, and shape bowls and vases as time permits. All projects will be functional, sculptural or decorative. Please wear old clothing to the class, as working with clay can be a bit messy. Project Pick-up: Completed projects will be fired in the kiln and made available for pick-up one week after the last class.

    Dive into a world of enchantment with Alicia in this unique Fairy Garden Workshop. She has everything you need to create a magical realm - from vibrant colored rocks and premium succulents to an array of lush moss and sparkling glass stones. Plus, she’ll provide a variety of fairy habitat options to choose from and pre-made gardens to ignite your imagination! This captivating class unfolds at Pour Wine Bar & Bistro, nestled at the edge of Elk River in Otsego. Unlock your creativity while sipping and savoring delectable dishes from the venue's extensive menu. Food and beverages are available for an additional purchase. Whether you're planning a memorable mother/daughter day or a bubbling girls' night out, this event is perfect for you! It's a family-friendly affair for age 8 and over; just remember, those under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Join us and let the magic begin!
  • Family Paint Night: Summer Evening & Cupcakes | age 6+

    Spend an evening painting a summer sky full of dancing dragonflies using acrylic paints on an 11x14-inch canvas. Everyone will get their own canvas to paint. As your painting dries, enjoy a cupcake dessert! One adult must be present for each family unit. Only one family member needs to register. Choose the number of family members attending from the payment options when registering.
  • Fun with Fused Glass - An Introduction

    Are you looking for a fun and creative activity? Learn the basics of fusing art glass in beautiful designs of your own creation guided by an instructor to make a functional dish, a set of coasters, or wall art. Once your project is complete, it will be fired in the kiln. You will receive an email approximately one week after the class to let you know when your project is available for pick-up at Handke Center, 1170 Main Street, Elk River.
  • Fused Glass Art - Open Studio

    NEW OPPORTUNITY! If you have attended at least one River Birch Glass Studio fused glass class, here's your chance to head back to the studio to create a project of your own design. Explore other molds or glass options that may have piqued your interest during previous classes. Use the open studio time to create gifts for others or to expand your creative experience. There are LOTS of options! The $45 registration fee covers the initial cost for Open Studio. Upon registration, Margie will contact you directly to establish your Open Studio start date. Discuss your project in advance with Margie; additional supply costs may be added. The supply price will be discussed and agreed upon individually for each project you wish to create. You can attend as many sessions as you need to finish your project. You will receive an email approximately one week after your project is finished to let you know when you may pick it up at River Birch Glass Studio. Prerequisite: Any fused glass class with Margie at River Birch Glass Studio ***If the class is full, we highly recommend you join the waitlist! Spots will open up throughout the summer as participants complete their projects.

  • Little Cactus Watercolor Still-Life | age 16+

    Our Watercolor for Adults class provides step-by-step instruction in the fundamentals of watercolor painting. This course enables a beginner to achieve confidence and mastery and to enjoy the process. You will get individual guidance and support at each stage. We will experiment with resist techniques while creating a succulent still-life. All necessary materials will be provided.
  • MN Twins Gnome

    "We're gonna win, Twins! We're gonna score!" Baseball season is in full swing! Join Alicia for a fun date night or an activity to enjoy with your friends and create a NO-SEW Minnesota Twins gnome. Food and beverages may be purchased from Pour Wine Bar and Bistro to enjoy while you craft.
  • Mosaic Birdbath

    A birdbath can draw a multitude of entertaining birds to your yard, and adds a beautiful focal point! Create a unique birdbath from terra cotta and colorful mosaic tiles. The birdbath bowl is 12 inches in diameter. Bring a photo to use as a pattern or design your own masterpiece. You should also bring an old towel and rubber gloves.
