Games are no longer just for entertainment—they’re powerful tools with applications in business and beyond.

This course offers a general introduction to the design and development of video and analog games, with a focus on how games can be used outside of consumer entertainment. By completing the course, you’ll take your first steps toward understanding game design and exploring how it can be applied in your professional field.

This course is included in the Certificate in Basic Game Design course.

Jean Haefner


Jean Haefner hold degrees in graphic design and photography, and has an MFA in Web Design and Interactive Media. She has taught in these areas, and worked as a content artist, web designer, and online course developer for over 20 years. She helped to develop the award-winning interdisciplinary Game Design and Development program at UW-Stout, and provided instruction in art and design for games there. She currently works at UW-Madison.
