Students will learn how to build an armature, or support system, for an animal form. We will use aluminum foil, tape, newspaper, and discarded objects to build the mass of the sculpture onto the support. Then we will use wheat paste, newspaper and colored paper to add a smooth surface to the form of the animal. Finally, we will embellish the final form with bright colors of tissue, various papers, and polymer glues. You may work as an independent artist, or invite a sibling, parent partner, or friend as your assistant. This project will prepare you for those student projects your teachers may assign in school, like building a volcano! Paula will teach you lots of methods, tricks, and share resources.
Please bring a nut-free snack and a beverage each day. Students who are registered for "Lunch Bunch" should bring a nut-free lunch and an additional beverage.
*** Registering for a morning and an afternoon class at the same location? Join the "Lunch Bunch!" Community Education will provide a supervised hour between classes for you to enjoy the lunch you brought from home, then will get you to your afternoon class. Lunches should be nut-free and should include a beverage. No resources are available for refrigeration or to heat lunches, so plan accordingly.
Parents/Guardians: Please answer "Yes" to the Lunch Bunch question when registering for the morning class. There is no charge, but we need to know who is staying with us for the hour. ***
