Escape to the Mediterranean with the flavors of Greece and get your OPA on! During this fun-filled cook-along class, you will learn the secrets of creating a lavish dish called pastitsio and a divine Greek dessert called galaktoboureko. Both are enjoyed by Greek families around the world, especially during holiday celebrations. Pastitsio is a culmination of layered Greek pasta, savory spiced meat sauce, and a topping of mile-high cheesy bechamel sauce. Galaktoboureko is a gourmet dessert made with a thick Greek custard wrapped in phyllo pastry and bathed in a dreamy syrup. Cook along with Tess and create the pastitsio from scratch, then watch her demonstrate the creation of the galaktoboureko.
The registration fee covers immediate family members living in the same household only. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.
The week of class, you will receive an email with an ingredient and supply list, prep packet, and Zoom video conferencing link. A few days after the class, you will receive an additional email with the recipes used during the class.
Tess Georgakopoulos has been cooking since she was roughly six years old -- well over forty years. Born into a Greek family, the art of cooking traditional meals using one's senses rather than recipes and measurements was passed on from one generation to the next. Her father was a trained chef who brought the magic of food to life in another form as they cooked elaborate family meals together. Food prepared from the heart, with one's own hands and creativity, was, and continues to be, an expression of love in her home. As a skilled home-cook and baker, Tess enjoys creating original recipes for her family and friends. She has recently started writing her first cookbook, and has a food blog in the works.
