    Bring your jewelry creations to life in this 3D printing class! The ancient craft of jewelry-making is brought to the modern world using TinkerCAD. Learn to build 3D models on the computer using CAD software. Design a pair of earrings and a ring. You'll be able to have one project printed. Additional Technical Requirement: TinkerCAD (login information provided during class) PC Needed (Windows or MacBook); program will not work on Chromebook, tablet, or phone
  • Alien Ooze & Tech Lab | grades K-3

    You are the lead scientist in charge of exploring alien technology and funky, gooey, gunky, gloppy slimes! In your lab, you’ll discover and explore the properties of a different exciting alien slime each day. As you continue your mission, you will concoct an “erupting” alien, engineer a hovercraft, create your own planetary night lamp, and explore many more fun STEAM activities. Join us in this wacky, fun-filled camp! *** Registering for a morning and an afternoon class at the same location? Join the "Lunch Bunch!" Community Education will provide a supervised hour between classes for you to enjoy the lunch you brought from home, then will get you to your afternoon class. Lunches should be nut-free and should include a beverage. No resources are available for refrigeration or to heat lunches, so plan accordingly. Parents/Guardians: please answer "Yes" to the Lunch Bunch question when registering for the morning class. There is no charge, but we need to know who is staying with us for the hour. ***
  • Common App Bootcamp | entering grade 12

    Seniors planning to apply to multiple colleges, especially if the list includes private or selective colleges, will likely use the Common App. Discover the basics of this program and understand the terminology it uses so you can be confident you are making the correct selections. Bring a laptop to this session as you will be setting up your Common App account. Note: One parent/guardian is welcome to accompany each student. Registration is based on the grade the student has just completed.
  • FIRST LEGO League Challenge | grades 4-6

    FIRST is more than robots! FLLC is a competitive, team-based program that works with the LEGO Mindstorm product to build and program robots made from scratch. Work together as a team to perform point-scoring missions and develop solutions to real-life problems while having fun building LEGO models and robots! The season runs September through December. Teams compete in Northwest Metro Robotics hub scrimmage events and a qualifier tournament with the potential to further advance in competition. Enjoy over 60 hours of STEM fun! Tournament Dates: Fall session: December 15, 2024 Winter session: March 22, 2025 We are looking for 8 parents to serve as coaches. As a coach, you will be responsible for guiding a team of 4-6 students. Hub resources and mentors are available to provide guidance to new teams. Additionally, you will receive a 20% discount on your child's registration fee. Work with others on a team to create a plan around a given concept, design a poster, and build a motorized LEGO model that shows your ideas and what you've learned.   • FIRST Tech Challenge | grades 7-12

    This is way more than building robots! Besides using and developing STEM skills, you'll practice engineering principles (such as keeping an engineering notebook), share ideas, and learn to think creatively. FIRST Tech Challenge teams will design build, program, and operate robots with a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it "the hardest fun you will ever have!" Guided by adult coaches and mentors, your team will also design and market a team brand and do community outreach. Teams will compete in one scrimmage, three league meets, and one league qualifier, with the possibility of advancing to the State competition. Tournament Dates: Fall session: January 19, 2025 Winter session: March 22, 2025 We are looking for 3 parent coaches. As a coach, you will be responsible for guiding 4-6 students.     Team up and survive in our multiplayer Minecraft world. Explore the unknown and join other Survival enthusiasts to overcome challenges and complete quests on our server.     Build your knowledge of simple machines, engineering, programming, and teamwork in an environment full of galactic fun! Work in pairs to create Star Wars and space-inspired robots.     Design, develop, and create 3D virtual reality (VR) environments and characters! Make your own 3D games and other virtual reality projects on Metaverse's new platform, Hatch. Hatch is an incredibly fun and stimulating way to learn STEM! VR programs can be viewed on most mobile phones, and VR systems such as Oculus or Google Cardboard. Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day. Please bring a nut-free snack, a water bottle, and recess attire.     Studies show that children learn another language easiest when it is fun, interesting, and practical in their everyday life. In our LIVE virtual course, ¡Vamos a Comer! (Let's Eat), students will be introduced to the market experience in Spanish-speaking countries, how to order food in a restaurant, set the table, and typical breakfast, lunch, and dinner vocabulary. In eight action-packed weeks, students will also learn about culture, conversation skills, and useful phrases! Don't miss out on this valuable opportunity for your student to practice Spanish in an interactive setting. A few days before the start of class, you will receive an email with the video conference link.
