Mardi Gras Meets Halloween! Muffuletta, King Cake & Beignets!

Adult / Culinary -
2025-2026 CE School Year

Take a culinary trip to New Orleans this Halloween with a festive, cook-along class with Chef Tess that brings the flavors of Mardi Gras to life! Participants will be guided through the step-by-step process of making fresh Muffuletta bread and a vibrant olive and veggie giardiniera-style condiment, before assembling this iconic, flavor-packed colossal sandwich. Afterwards, you will be absorbed in the process of making a full flavored, colorful King Cake, complete with festive flair & filling, and a surprise inside! Then, making warm, powdered sugar-dusted beignets. The instructor will demonstrate making these two beloved New Orleans sweets.

Perfect for families and food lovers alike, this cook-along class is all about celebration, bold flavors, and letting the good times roll... NOLA style!

Cook Along: Muffuletta Bread, vibrant olive and veggie giardiniera-style condiment, and assembling the colossal sandwich with classic deli meats and cheeses.

Demonstration: New Orleans King Cake & Beignets! Given limited time, the King Cake will need to be demonstrated during the class. Both require the creation of different yeasted dough, that require proofing time beyond what the class allows for. Participants, however, will receive all the recipes.

The registration fee covers immediate family members living in the same household only. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.

Before the class, an email with the list of ingredients and class login details will be sent to allow for shopping and preparation. After the class, you will receive an email with all class recipes presented in a professionally produced printable packet.

Tess Georgakopoulos

Tess Georgakopoulos has been cooking since she was roughly six years old -- well over forty years. Born into a Greek family, the art of cooking traditional meals using one's senses rather than recipes and measurements was passed on from one generation to the next. Her father was a trained chef who brought the magic of food to life in another form as they cooked elaborate family meals together. Food prepared from the heart, with one's own hands and creativity, was, and continues to be, an expression of love in her home. As a skilled home-cook and baker, Tess enjoys creating original recipes for her family and friends. She has recently started writing her first cookbook, and has a food blog in the works.
